This FAQ answers the most common questions about glass whiteboards, magnetic glass boards, installation, cleaning, and presentation easels. If you're choosing a board for an office, classroom, or home workspace, the information below will help you understand how glass boards work and how to get the most from them.
Glass Whiteboard Basics
All of our glass dry erase boards are made from tempered safety glass (also known as toughened glass), which is up to five times stronger than standard glass. This premium material ensures durability and safety in office, classroom, and home environments. Our glass whiteboards provide a sleek, modern writing surface that resists staining and ghosting better than traditional whiteboards.

Standard White glass boardshave a subtle natural green tint, which is inherent to most glass materials.Ultra White glass boards undergo an additional manufacturing process that removes minerals responsible for this tint, creating a brighter and more neutral white surface. Ultra White boards provide maximum contrast and visual clarity, making them especially popular for conference rooms and presentation spaces. Both options are available in our magnetic glass whiteboards collection.
Glass Board Tips
Glass whiteboards are very easy to clean thanks to their non-porous surface. Normal dry-erase markers will wipe off cleanly using a standard eraser or dry cloth without leaving stains or ghosting.
For deeper cleaning, you can use a soft cloth with an ammonia-free glass cleaner to restore the board’s shine and remove any marker residue.
If permanent marker is accidentally used on the glass surface, simply write over the marks with a regular dry-erase marker and wipe it clean. The dry-erase ink helps lift the permanent ink so it can be removed easily.
For clear, frosted, and white glass boards, we recommend Expo Bold Dry Erase Markers. These markers produce more vibrant, highly visible lines compared to standard dry-erase markers, making them easier to read on glass surfaces. They are also great for creative uses such as drawings, planning boards, or colorful notes.
Forblack glass boards, we recommend Expo Neon Bullet Tip Dry Erase Markers for dry-erase use and Expo Bright Sticks for wet-erase applications. These markers are specifically designed to stand out on dark surfaces.
Important: When purchasing markers for black glass boards, make sure they are labeled as suitable for dark or black surfaces, since many standard markers designed for whiteboards may not show up clearly.
Most standard refrigerator magnets are not strong enough to hold securely on magnetic glass boards due to the thickness of the tempered glass. We recommend using neodymium (rare earth) magnets with a minimum diameter of 3/4 inch and thickness of at least 1/16 inch for reliable holding power. These stronger magnets work perfectly for attaching documents, notes, and visual aids to your magnetic glass whiteboard.
Glass whiteboards are great for chore charts, and other planning systems. If you have a clear or frosted glass board, you can place printed templates, schedules, or planning sheets behind the glass and write over them on the front surface. Document clips or tape can help hold the paper in place behind the board.
For a more permanent setup, you can use a permanent marker (such as a Sharpie) to draw the grid lines, titles, or sections of your chart. Then use a dry erase marker to fill in the details. When you erase the board, the permanent layout will remain while the dry-erase writing wipes away.
We also offer magnetic glass calendar boards with pre-designed templates that make it easy to organize schedules, tasks, and reminders.
